While some (perhaps even a majority) of the complaints about Aku no Hana’s animation comes from it being not-anime in front of a weeaboo audience, I’d like to point out that Aku no Hana uses a technique called rotoscoping. Rotoscoping is probably the most controversial animation technique ever invented.

It probably sounds silly to call a technique controversial, but as an animation enthusiast I cannot tell you how many times the very word has incited massive internet debates on the merits and shortcomings of it. Hell, if you so much as mention having a strong reaction one way or another to the work of Ralph Bakshi— an animator best known for rotoscoped work— you are tossing a smoldering match onto ten gallons of kerosene.

I haven’t seen the series myself, so I can’t really add my own opinion here, but it’s a bit dismissive to claim that people complaining about Aku no Hana are all whiny weebs.

Charahub Updates:

- Reordered the story groups.
- For characters in Mango Roomba and another story: Added links in their profiles so you can glean more about one from the other.
- Mango Roomba: Added some basic profile information for Mitsu, Chiharu, Ichigo and Junpei.
- Added a new group for Vanguard fancharacters. No info yet.

We are at part 2! I’m going to be doing a real finished piece for this. Also, there will be BT and an arbitrarily chosen soundtrack. If that sounds interesting, pop on in!

This is pretty much spot-on.

As much as I love Chrono Cross, warts and all (it’s probably my all time favorite game), I kind have would have liked to see about half the character lineup cut in favor of giving some others more screentime.

There are some really, really fascinating backstories/character arcs waiting to be explored.
